Athens Board of Education (BOE) actively seeks the advice of community
members through an advisory committee. Studies clearly indicate that
when parents and community members are involved, students achieve more.
The BOE believes it is essential to work with the community to build
trust and an effective two-way relationship so that their involvement is
assured. The advisory committee members are chosen by the BOE and
advise the BOE on school related topics. While the ultimate authority
to make decisions resides with the school board, this committee conducts
studies, identify problems, and develop recommendations.
