On February 2, the Athens chapter of Future Business Leaders of America hosted the Region II Leadership Conference at Athens High School for over 650 students, advisers, and guests. Jennifer Espinoza -Quiroz, the current Wisconsin Region 2 State Vice President, oversaw the event as part of her state officer position. Athens FBLA was well represented with members competing in business related events to try to earn a trip to the State Leadership Conference in Green Bay in April.
The afternoon was filled with excitement as students and advisers waited to see who would advance to state. In each event, the top three finishers get the chance to move on and compete against students from the other six regions to try to earn a trip to nationals. Athens will advance the following students to Green Bay in April:
• Vanessa Espinoza -Quiroz, Ava Ford, Sy’Rih Hartwig 1st place in Digital Video Production;
• Jennifer Espinoza -Quiroz, 1st place in Impromptu Speaking;
• Isabella Zastrow, 1st place in Introduction to Public Speaking;
• Addison Lavicka, Faith Nowak and Alexa Weiler, competing in the American Enterprise State Competition;
• Bianca Boneske will be attending the Leadership Academy.

Students are expanding their knowledge of equipment and giving the lathe a try. These two students carved out bowls on the lathe and they look great!
Girls in Tech Ed class took some time to go through some basic auto principles. They learned how to check all fluids and change a tire.

Athens FBLA needs your help! Jennifer is currently serving as the Wisconsin State Region 2 Vice President for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Serving as the State Region 2 VP, she has the responsibility and honor of hosting the Region 2 Leadership Conference on February 3, 2024 at Athens High School.
To make this event a success, we need dedicated community members to serve as judges, room supervisors for the various competitive events and/or facilitate a workshop. Volunteering your time and talents allows you to interact with our state's future business leaders, share your expertise, and support the development of their skills.
On behalf of the Athens FBLA chapter, please consider volunteering your time and expertise to support the next generation of business leaders. This is a rewarding experience and greatly benefits our students. November 16, Jennifer and the other FBLA state officers, along with the other state Career and Technical Education student organizations officers had the opportunity to hear from and speak with state legislators about current topics, pertinent to Career and Technical Education that affect families, schools, and communities in Wisconsin.

FCA Officers - Alexa Weiler, Faith Nowak and Jennifer Espinoza Quiroz loaded Operation Christmas Child boxes into a car. 16 boxes were filled with gifts to be shared with children at Christmas. Thank you to all the families that helped make this a success.

The eighth grade students just finished racing their C02 cars. All did very well and here are the students and cars that placed in the Best of Show and Racing competitions.
