Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, the referendum community information meeting scheduled this evening, February 27 at Maple Grove Charter School, has been cancelled. This meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, March 13 at 6 PM, and it will be held at Maple Grove Charter School in the gymnasium.

Good Morning! Due to some impending severe weather forecasts, there are a few athletic updates to share: Tonight's Regional Varsity Girls Basketball game vs. Rib Lake will begin at 6 p.m. at the Athens High School. Thursday's Boys Basketball games @ Chequamegon have been moved to tonight. JV Game Time is 5:45p; Varsity at 7:15p. Bus will be leaving at 3:30p. Go Bluejays!

Bluejay Nation: Please join us in the AHS Gym tomorrow, February 21, at 9:30 a.m. as we celebrate two HUGE accomplishments in one booming assembly! We’re cheering on Cambrea Sarasin as she prepares to sing in the ACDA National Honor Choir this week in Cincinnati, OH! Cambrea will rehearse with the choir from February 22-25, and then perform in a concert on Saturday the 25th. Congratulations, Cambrea, on this enormous honor! It is truly amazing to have a student represent our school at this national-level event. We are continuing the momentum and cheering on Elle Gauerke as she makes her way to State Wrestling in Madison on Thursday, February 23. Elle is the first female in AHS history to make it to State! She is the daughter of Danielle & Coach Jodi Gauerke. We are extremely excited to have her represent our school and our wrestling team!

The Athens Board of Education unanimously approve the following referendum resolution: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET TO EXCEED REVENUE LIMIT FOR FOUR YEARS FOR NON-RECURRING PURPOSES. BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of the School District of Athens, Marathon and Taylor Counties, Wisconsin that the revenues included in the School District budget be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by $1,670,000 for the 2023-2024 school year, and by $1,200,000 per year for the 2024-2025 school year through the 2026-2027 school year, for non-recurring purposes consisting of operational and maintenance expenses. Adopted and recorded January 16, 2023. Additional referendum information and community listening sessions will be forthcoming during the next several weeks.

ATHENS FBLA COMPETES AT REGIONAL COMPETITION The Athens Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) participated at the Region II Leadership Conference hosted by Owen-Withee High School on Saturday, February 4. Over 600 FBLA members and advisers from 30 regional chapters competed in over 65 competitive events, attended workshops and elected our very own Jennifer Espinoza-Quiroz as the 2023-20024 Region II State Vice President. Athens High School will host the FBLA Regional competition in 2024. The following students placed in the top 5 of their competitive events, the top three in each event will advance to the state competition on April 17-18 in Green Bay. Chapter adviser is Michelle Murkowski. Athens FBLA members placing in competitive events and advancing to the state competition are: 2nd Place: Sierra Nowacki-Health Care Administration 3rd Place: Jennifer Espinoza-Quiroz-Public Speaking Athens members placing in the top 5 but not advancing to state included: 5th Place: Andrew Schaer-Computer Problem Solving 5th Place: Malaina Telschow-Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure
