Fish and Wildlife have been learning about waterfowl and the different breeds of ducks. Each student got to pick a breed to research and then they had to paint a duck decoy to match the breed they choose. The breeds chosen were the Ruddy Duck, the Wood Duck, the Cinnamon Teal Duck and the Red Breasted Merganser. They did a fantastic job!
Athens Middle School recently participated in a math league competition in Edgar on April 18. One hundred fifty-two individuals in grades 6-8 particated and made up the thirty-eight teams of four. Teams came from Athens, Edgar, Abbotsford, Stratford, Auburndale, Colby, Nekoosa, Greenwood, Port Edwards, Pittsville, and Marathon.
Students from Athens made up two teams. The first team took 10th place and the second team took 24th. Congratulations to all participants! Thank you for representing Athens with pride and integrity.
Last week students in 6th and 7th grades traveled to Northcentral Technical College for the Central Wisconsin Science and Engineering Festival. Students from Michigan Tech's Mind Trekkers program put on demonstrations and engaging STEM related activities for students to participate in. We had a great time!
The School District of Athens will be closed today, April 17th due to inclement weather. There will be no after school activities or athletic events.

Huge Congratulations to the Athens FFA Vet Science CDE Team!
On March 21st the Athens FFA Vet Science CDE Team competed at Mid-State Technical College.
The team placed 1st and qualified for state on April 27th in Madison. Individual placings are: Carlissa Tomandl 3rd, Isabella Zastrow 4th, Katelynn Osborn 6th, and Kaydin Streit 24th.
The team members have to complete a lab practicum, a math practicum, an ID portion and a written test.
Great job ladies!
Intro to Animal Science has been learning about animal nutrition, the various digestive systems and various feedstuffs. They completed a garbage digestive system project where they had to use different pieces of garbage to complete the entire digestive system of a specific animal. Enjoy their creative takes on the digestive systems of a cow, a goat, a dog and a chicken!
