First graders were challenged to take on a mission of creating a magnificent thing for the classroom. Students came up with the ideas as a class, then worked collaboratively to make it come to life. Students showed their CRISP traits in the craftsmanship and perseverance!
Here's what students created:
#1-10 indoor hopscotch - created by Cali and Airia
Morning lunch choice board - created by Avery and Mason
Pencil holders - created by Clay and Emma
Classroom paper chain - created by Iris and Cassidy
Alphabet mobile - created by Justin, Levi, and Bryana
Classroom Mailbox - created by Jolene and Dexter (not pictured)
I love how these all turned out and was so proud of the collaboration more than anything😊

The current exploratory unit in Kindergarten at Maple Grove is all about "Toys and Play"- both important components in early childhood! We have been learning how to describe materials by their attributes and took it one step further by practicing with pumpkins, gourds, and squash! Learners loved telling others about their item's color, shape, size, and texture.

Kindergarten students at MGCS had a blast during our Halloween celebration! We used our sense of touch to guess what was used for different "witchy" body parts, had a party with fun snacks and drinks, and topped the day off with a whole school costume parade and dance party. Happy Halloween! 🎃

Third grade celebrated Halloween with costumes, STEAM activities
and a dance party/parade.

First grade celebrated Halloween with spooky stories, witches brew snack mix, candy corn math, and illustrating/writing “what should my teacher be for Halloween”. The day ended with a school wide dance party and parade! Happy Halloween from the first grade🎃❤️

Maple Grove Charter School fourth and fifth grade learners have spent our first quarter in school working hard using Accelerated Reader. Accelerated Reader is a program we have been using that tracks students independent reading practice and progress by using comprehension quizzes after students complete books and articles. As a fourth grade class they have collectively read 320 books and 281 articles since the beginning of the year and every student has met their goal that was set through this program! We celebrated their achievement today through an award ceremony followed by flashlight reading. We could not be more proud of these fourth and fifth grade learners!

Third graders at Maple Grove Charter School earned a pajama day for their outstanding classroom CRISP traits. Keep up the great work!

Kindergarten students from Maple Grove Charter School enjoyed their very first time at the Merrill School Forest! We had an amazing time despite the early rain and chilly fall temperature. Thank you Mr. Noland for spending the day with our excited group as we learned about animals in winter, camouflage, and SO much more 🍂🦉 Needless to say, we are all ready for the next trip!

Fifth grade students from Maple Grove and Athens Elementary attended a field trip to the Highground Veterans Memorial Park and Museum in Neillsville earlier this month. Our trip was sponsored by the Mar-Lin VFW Post 10203, and we were lucky to be joined by some local veterans who shared their stories with us. It was an amazing learning experience!

Our outstanding Hamburg Volunteer Fire department was at MGCS this
morning teaching us all about fire safety. Learners had the opportunity to see a variety of equipment and sit in the fire trucks. They even received a gift from the firefighters 🚒 They truly are a gift to our community of Hamburg and our school!

Nothing beats the excitement of a kindergartner exploring a firetruck! 🚒
Thank you to the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department for spending a gorgeous morning at Maple Grove and sharing your essential fire safety knowledge. You made their day!

First grade had one of the most amazing fall days to have the Hamburg volunteer fire department come visit. The students enjoyed seeing all the equipment, asking important questions, and of course getting the inside experience of a fire truck!

At MGCS we spent some time celebrating the learners who reached their September reading incentive. Learners who reached their individualized September goal painted pumpkins 🎃, that were donated by our very own Mrs. Dvorak! They also had a special treat of apple nachos 🍎 We reiterated how setting goals and persevering to reach them is a lifelong skill. It was an eventful and exciting day at Maple Grove Charter School!

Third graders at Maple Grove Charter School had an amazing day at the Merrill School Forest studying adaptations of beavers and the five rules of ecology.

The kindergarten foxes at MGCS welcomed October by taking advantage of this great weather. We explored nature rubbings with leaves, rocks, bark, plants, and even tried pinecones. That last item definitely took some perseverance!

We celebrated Mr. Bloch for National Custodian Day! Well deserved Mr. Bloch!
